Javier works in conservation during the day and runs a small start-up company after hours. Prior to his current job Javier was director of Marketing and Communications for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. He was also an active member of the Partnership for the National Trail System.

He launched Toa Waters, a premium “bold scented” bubble bath product company, in the fall of 2020. The company supports the Florida Trail Association, Maryland Food Bank, and American Cancer Society.

A southern Louisiana native, Staci enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1993, was commissioned as an officer in 2004, and served 24 years until retiring as a major in 2017. Staci served in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Australia, Republic of the Philippines, Japan, and stateside.

She is the community engagement chair for the San Diego Imperial County Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Chapter, PRSA National Voices 4 Everyone Civic Engagement Committee Chair and president of HomeAid San Diego Board and interim executive director.

Karla co-produced AdeRisa Productions feature film Bruising for Besos about domestic violence in a lesbian community.

Jon is a neuropsychiatrist and lecturer, active on social media. After completing his studies at Harvard Medical School, he pioneered integrated treatment programs for the elderly, medically ill, and brain-injured patients. For the past ten years, in his blog Searching for the Mind, he has discussed the latest scientific findings in neuroscience, animal behavior, cellular biology, immunology, and microbiology as they relate to the question of where mind can be found in nature. His book, The Secret Language of Cells: What Biological Conversations Tell Us About the Brain-Body Connection, the Future of Medicine, and Life Itself strives to explain the science of how different cells, bacteria and brain cells, blood cells and viruses speak the same language.

Bob is the founder of the Howard T. Odum Florida Springs Institute, “a nonprofit program dedicated to supporting science and education necessary for restoration and wise management of Florida’s artesian springs.” He is an environmental scientist with more than 38 years of professional experience in Florida, including detailed ecological studies at more than 20 large springs. He is former adjunct professor at the University of Florida Department of Environmental Engineering and Sciences where he taught graduate level classes on the ecology of Florida’s springs and wetlands.

According to his bio he is an accredited provider of the Bale Doneen (BD) Method said to be used by “hundreds of practitioners worldwide” and meant to incorporate “the most current, research-based information along with painless non-invasive tests, simple blood tests and genetic information to help predict and prevent heart attacks and ischemic strokes.”

A native Miamian, John has written more than 400 articles for Europe, Overseas Life, Sierra, Florida Trend, Business Florida, and The St. Petersburg Times. He authored 16 non-fiction young adult books. He has also edited a Civil War series for young readers.

In February 2019, Drying Up The Fresh Water Crisis in Florida was selected as winner of the Florida Historical Society’s Stetson Kennedy Award for writing about Florida’s natural environment. The book also won the Bronze Medal in the 2019 Florida Book Awards, Florida Nonfiction category.
